Richard L. Wixson, M.D.

Dr. Richard L. Wixson is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, concentrating in total hip and knee reconstruction and replacement. He is a Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and serves as the Chairman of the Resident Research Committee within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and on the Board of Directors of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Wixson is proud to have served on the Health Policy Committee of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Coding Committee. Among his many honors he has been named to Chicago Magazine's annual list of Top Doctors.

Dr. Wixson received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, and completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where he was made Chief Resident in Orthopaedics. Subsequently he completed fellowships in Hip and Knee reconstruction at Massachusetts General Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.

He has been a member of the American Medical Association, the Chicago Medical Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Illinois Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Wixson has done extensive research on the subject of bone cement and joint fixation as well as computer assisted surgical procedures for hip and knee replacement. He has been published in the Journal of Arthroplasty, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and the Journal of Biomechanics.
